About this blog

Hello! If you’re new to Learning to be Mrs C then a warm welcome to you, please grab a cup of tea and make yourself at home here.

This is not my first blog.  I have been writing and blogging for over six years and had a wonderful little piece of cyberspace that I nurtured and polished to make it a place I loved.  But like many others, my life took a pretty drastic turn when my marriage failed and for some time I couldn’t bring myself to write so much as a sentence or even look back at my old blog.  I was a frightened single mum, dealing with anxiety, financial strain and the pressure of judgmental raised eyebrows and the sound of not so quiet whisperings.  What I would have written down would not have been fun to read.

And now? In a few weeks I’ll be celebrating 6 months of marriage to my best friend – the man who picked me up when I was on my knees, made me believe in myself and loved my daughters from the start.  He often reminds me of a conversation we had when I was a newly single mum and he was one of the only friends that stuck around; I wholeheartedly swore that I would not ever get married again.  I’m so glad I was wrong.

We moved to the Yorkshire dales last year to be closer to my parents.  Country living takes some getting used to (especially in the winter!) but we’ve not once looked back.

So, I’m learning to be Mrs C.  I’m learning all over again, with a heap of baggage and painful experience under my belt, how to be the best wife I can be, just as Mr C is learning how to be the most awesome husband he can be.  And we’re taking a 7 year old, a 9 year old and a house rabbit on that learning curve to domestic bliss…

Most blogs are cleverly categorised so you know what you’re getting.  Unfortunately this isn’t one of them.  It’s not exclusively a mummy blog, a lifestyle blog or a photography blog.  I won’t be paying someone else to clean it up and make it look ‘professional’ either’. What you will get is a lot of brutal, often self deprecating honesty,  bits on travel, bits on baking, bits mummy ‘stuff’ and bits on current issues (that sounds awfully grown up and serious doesn’t it?!) that make me think.  If it’s something I think I’d like to read myself, I’ll stick it in.

I hope you like it.
